Artist Statement
Matthew has created a vivid world of lone figures in distant, desolate lands. His vibrant scenes showcase the joys and sorrows of solitude from freedom, wonder and contemplation to dejection, isolation, confusion and melancholy. Each one is an episode in the saga of dreamy outcast adventures.
They are so crisp and graphic that they seem digital but they are full of craftsmanship and raw emotion. The honest and direct style evokes deeper emotions and each scene tells a story and transports us to strange, new worlds. We escape and face the absurd existence along with these expressive characters in the vast realms of mystery.
